The University scientific policy can be stated by the following objectives:

  • To structure the research

carried out by the research laboratories in coherent and visible thematic poles within the Polytechnicum of Marne-la-Vallée.

  • To develop the international activities

and the networks as well as the facilities for hosting doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and foreign research scientists.

  • To develop innovation, research and the partnerships

with the socio-economic sector, especially in the competitive labor market.

  • To provide high-quality training to doctoral students

To provide high-quality training to doctoral students as well as to facilitate job placement for doctors using the thematic doctoral schools (generally multidisciplinary) of the Polytechnicum and its doctoral college which groups together all doctoral schools.

  • To align all Master

degree programs with their respective research areas by strengthening the teaching-research link.

 ORGANIZATION

The research activities are carried out by the researchers and faculty members of the University of Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée (UPEMLV) in the Research Laboratories which are evaluated and accredited in the form of research units (Equipe d’Accueil (EA)) or in mixed research units (Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR)). The research laboratories are gathered in Thematic Poles.
The research laboratories are either own research units (EA) or mixed research units (UMR) joined with research centers and/or higher educational establishments (Universities and Engineering Schools).
The doctoral studies and programs are organized into Doctoral Schools (ED) built in collaboration with the partners of Polytechnicum of Marne-la-Vallée. Each doctoral school has its thematic domains and scientific policy and is connected to the research laboratories specializing in its domain. Every doctoral student is a member of a research laboratory of his/her doctoral school.
The Doctoral College of the Polytechnicum federates the activities of the Doctoral Schools. Its principal mission is to pool together resources of the doctoral schools and to support the professional insertion of the doctors.

The research contracts undertaken by the Research Laboratories are managed by the Industrial and Commercial Projects Department (SAIC) of the University.

The Research Management of the University and the Scientific Council oversee the whole research aspects and provide any necessary administrative support.
